Tilak Varma

In the recent five-match T20I series, Tilak Varma performed exceptionally by scoring an impressive 173 runs. This remarkable feat has caught the attention of many cricket enthusiasts, who now consider him a promising candidate for India's Asia Cup squad. Cricket expert Abhishek Nayar has admired Tilak Varma's impressive temperament, diverse range of shots, and ability to bowl off-spin. Overall, Tilak Varma's exceptional skills and talent have made him a valuable asset to the Indian cricket team.

"To a large extent, he has been stupendous, especially the way he performed against the West Indies. He is a left-hander who can bat at No. 4. He can roll his arm over and can bowl a couple of overs in T20Is and ODIs, too. He is a terrific young talent who has repeatedly shown a lot of potential in the IPL and in domestic cricket," Abhishek Nayar said.

It was a surprise to see Tilak Varma included in India's squad for the Asia Cup 2023, but Abhishek Nayar was pleased with the decision. Abhishek Nayar believes that Tilak Varma's experience of batting in various conditions will benefit him.

"I am really happy that he (Tilak) has been given the opportunity. He is getting a lot of games to play for India. That is a very good sign. He played in Ireland and West Indies, and playing in different conditions will give him a lot of exposure," he added.

The Indian team led by captain Rohit Sharma is training in a 5-day camp at a facility provided by the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) in Alur, Bangalore. The Indian team is scheduled to face arch-rivals Pakistan in their first match of the Asia Cup on September 2 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is scheduled to start on October 5 in India, with England, the defending champions, playing New Zealand in a repeat of the 2019 World Cup final. India's first game will be on October 8 against five-time winners Australia at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
